Remote Logistics Management (RLM) addresses unique aspects of remote operations, it provides the SAP functionality for supplying and tracking materials from base to remote locations, these types of locations include offshore oil platforms, onshore production, renewables sites, mining, iron ore, petroleum, rail & port operations). Natural resources and engineering organisations require the SAP RLM ERP to supply materials from base locations to remote locations, purchase or rent material, package and un-package materials from containers, manage loading areas, handling returns and repairs.

Organisations are finding it difficult to allow for future changes of RLM as a part of their S/4 roadmap, the ECC version of RLM is not being developed into a native S/4HANA solution. Including SAP EWM as a part of your S/4HANA transformation is one option to maintain the supply chain transparency, integration, capacity management and scheduling capabilities. SAP EWM has the ability to enhance the functionality of remote operations as a part of your cloud journey, general operations at remote sites can be supported by standard EWM processes with implementation options including the HANA database to take full advantage of reporting capabilities.

SAP EWM enhances the capabilities SAP RLM including:

  • Goods Receipt
  • Shipping
  • Inventory Management
  • Rental Material Mobilisation
  • Returns
  • Material Tracking
